Linksys Wireless Music Bridge (WMB54G) Review

Last Updated: 11/15/08

I just finished setting up my Linksys WMB54G Wireless Music Bridge. It did not work out of the box. I had to update the driver (setup utility) and the firmware. So make sure you have the following versions or higher:
Setup Wizard (XP and Vista) 1.3 3/12/2008 (9.17 MB)
Firmware (XP and Vista) 2.18 3/12/2008 (2.15 MB)
When setting up the Music Bridge through the setup wizard keep a close eye open for a button that says "Manual Setup". You will want to click this button if your router's ip address is not 192.168.1.1. This is because the music bridge is configured with ip address 192.168.1.120 be default.

Then make sure you allow the driver to start up on the computer and run in the background (CmFlywav.exe). The control utility program uses that process to send audio through a virtual sound card (which shows up on device manager and control panel) to the wireless music bridge.
